Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Jharsuguda: Vedanta Limited, Jharsuguda embarked on a week long road safety awareness campaign from 11th January to 17th January 2017 to promote and inculcate road-safety consciousness among drivers, helpers, labourers, plant personnels and the community members at large at its plant premises.
The campaign activities begun with a road safety rally from IPP crossing Urjja Setu till main gate led by Mr. Anil Kumar Singh, COO Power and Mr. Dayanidhi Behera, Head Aluminum Operations Vedanta Limited Jharsuguda.More than two hundred plant personnels, employees from partner agencies, drivers and laborers took part in the rally which marked the beginning of 28th Road Safety Week 2017. The team walked down to the observation venue where the function was officially inaugurated by Mr. Anil Singh along with Mr. Dayanidhi Behera with other senior officials from Vedanta, Jharsuguda in presence of a huge gathering of employees, drivers, helpers and laborers. The dignitaries and the safety team took special effort in educating the mass about the importance of road safety in today’s context and urged everyone to follow road-safety norms in and outside the plant premises with an aim to make the plant accident free.
During the week-long programme, safety awareness will be spearheaded in plant, township, peripheral villages, schools and Jharsuguda town through various activities like drawing competition for school children, safety slogan competition among Vedanta Limited/contractor employees, external safety training on vehicles for technological vehicle drivers, road safety campaign in all parking area, township and on spot quiz competition, identification and recognition for best safe drivers and road safety training session for coal truck drivers.
